Holy Thursday 18 April 2019
17 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” 18 He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’” – Matthew 26:17-18

Because Jesus is a famous Rabbi the “certain man” in today’s Scripture, is honored to offer his house as the place of Jesus’ last Passover celebration. Jesus’ final meal is a Passover Seder. The Seder celebrates God saving Israel from Egyptian slavery. After His Passover meal, Jesus will save the world from slavery to wrongdoing and death. Passover celebrates Israel’s freedom from Egyptian tyranny. Holy Thursday celebrates the freedom that Jesus, the Passover Lamb of God offers to all who receive and enjoy His love.

Affectionately,
Ric
